Recognition for UE in the STERN Ranking
UE Germany convinces again in STERN ranking
As part of the investigation conducted by Globis, a renowned market research institute, in the field of continuing education providers for the year 2023/24, the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) once again achieved outstanding results and secured positions among the top five in two categories. Among the more than 4,500 respondents, UE was not only recognized as the leading provider among private universities in Germany but also received recognition for its extensive range of dual-degree programmes. Particularly, the evaluation criteria of "satisfaction and recommendation" and "value for money" stood out positively.
For further information about the study and in-depth details, you can read more here (in German).
Free legal support for students
UE offers free legal support for students in Berlin and Potsdam.
University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) has forged a strategic partnership with SERS Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (SERS), a prominent law firm, to offer personalised visa and immigration guidance to its international student body, without incurring any additional expenses.
This collaboration with SERS aims to provide comprehensive support to UE students right from their arrival in Berlin or Potsdam. The experienced legal team at SERS extends a warm welcome to students, offering informative sessions on vital rights and obligations within the framework of German immigration laws. This invaluable orientation eases their integration into the local system.
Under the terms of this agreement, SERS will facilitate the initial residence permit application process and schedule individual appointments for students with the Immigration Office Berlin/Potsdam. Commencing on September 1, 2023, this partnership will be expanded to encompass assistance in obtaining a job-seeking residence permit upon successful completion of studies within the stipulated timeframe. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to participate in group consultations led by SERS' legal experts, enabling them to seek answers to their legal queries.
It's important to note that UE students can access these services completely free of charge, subject to certain terms and conditions. This invaluable support allows them to concentrate on their academic pursuits and enjoy a rewarding experience while studying abroad.
UE goes Dubai
UE is the first German university to open a new campus in the United Arab Emirates
The new campus in Dubai's Future District
The University of Europe for Applied Sciences is opening a new campus in Dubai's hip Future District and will start its first-degree programmes as early as this autumn. 7 courses of study bring top university education to the Gulf region
The quality of German university education is brought to the United Arab Emirates within the framework of 7 courses of study: Data Science*, Software Engineering*, Visual and Experience Design*, Innovation Design Management as well as an MBA with specializations offered as Master's study programmes. In addition, there are two Bachelor's degree programmes, Business Management Studies and Digital Business & Data Science.
All programmes, which are accredited both in Germany and by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai, prepare students for the job markets of the future, as UE's goal is to combine high-quality theoretical education from Germany with international companies already based in Dubai. Within the framework of university partnerships with international companies from the business, tech, and finance sectors, UE brings practical elements into the seminars right from the start.
UE in Dubai - Shaping the future together
"With UE, we are the first German university to come to an incredible city of the future, where we already feel thematically at home. Our study programmes and our DNA tick like Dubai: innovative, fast-growing and always thinking one step ahead - that's exactly what UE is," explains Sagi Hartov, CEO of GUS Germany GmbH, an education provider to which the UE also belongs, and is looking forward to the start in the United Arab Emirates.
Particularly attractive for future students, not only from the Gulf region but also worldwide, are the numerous amenities offered by studying in the Future District in Dubai: Affordable tuition fees, state-of-the-art campus and student residences in an inspiring city.

UE celebrates cooperation with Borussia Dortmund
Festive kick-off to the start of cooperation
With more than 20 years of existence, the UE Campus in Iserlohn has a long university history to offer. Established as an entrepreneurial campus in the region and an integral part of in-company training, the campus' already broad repertoire of modern business and sports degree programmes has now been complemented by a high-profile cooperation: Borussia Dortmund (BVB) - a globally recognised Bundesliga club and an integral part of Westphalian sports culture.
Since 1st of July 2022, the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) has been the first university in Germany to call itself a university partner of BVB. To celebrate this in a fitting manner, the "UE Sports Day" took place on 26th August at the Sports and Entrepreneurship Campus in Iserlohn. BVB legend and former national goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller personally answered questions about the new cooperation, hosted a sports quiz from which one of our students won two tickets for the derby in September, and answered numerous autograph and photo requests.
Our professor of sports management at UE, Thomas Rieger, is also pleased about the new educational cooperation with Borussia Dortmund: "Through the cooperation with BVB, we now have the opportunity to let our students participate very closely in the professional football world. They get insights into the business of an international football club and - just like at our sporting event - can exchange ideas with top managers and football legends and get tips from them."
In addition to BVB, the UE at the Iserlohn campus also has other well-known cooperations with the Young Roosters, the Kangaroos Iserlohn, the Techniker Krankenkasse and the ai Fitness Club. These were also represented in large numbers on site and helped to make the event special with various interactive sports activities.

The HRP 2022
The background
The Hamburg Portfolio Review has created a new professional development platform in Europe for the international photo community. Photographers from all over the world were invited to submit their work. Our primary goal was to establish a new platform for the international photo scene in Europe. The HPR offers photographers the opportunity to present their work to international experts in the photography industry. A high-caliber jury reviewed all applications and selected 100 talents who got invited for the review in autumn 2022. During the One-on-One Portfolio Reviews, the selected photographers met up with 4 of around 50 photo experts from various fields and presented their work in an exhibition. The artists gained visibility for their work through contacts with publishers, media houses, museums, festivals, foundations, universities and institutions.
However, the focus was on narrative photography, not advertising images. The HPR is aimed at those who are serious about photography. For whom photography is not just a hobby, but a professional visual medium to engage with current issues. We are always curious to discover new photographic work from around the world, image makers and visual storytellers who have developed their own voice and want to express something through photography.
The HPR is a cooperation of the publishing house Gruner + Jahr with the media brands STERN and GEO and UE. With the kind support of Canon Europe, the Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media, Intesa Sanpaolo and the Altonaer Museum.

UE alumni from Iserlohn set sail for networking-event with more founders
Learn more about the initiative of the two UE graduates here.
UE brought out many graduates through its more than 20 years of existence. UE alumni regularly exchange ideas, connect and network. Now two former UE students have organised a sailing trip on the Baltic Sea with a total of 30 founders. Both are now successful founders themselves, manage a StartUpFond and won the 1st Südwestfalen Pionier.
Ebbo Tücking, head of the Business Management Studies programme at the UE Campus in Iserlohn, also participated: "It's simply great to see how our students develop from first-year students to founders and then set up successful companies themselves. In the context of networking, this is of course even easier, especially when new contacts are made on high seas."
"As a university teacher, I am proud of our alumni. Working together through lectures and seminars right from the start, then going out to celebrate together and continuing to support each other later in professional life, that is the ideal form of a university community. I am very pleased that this still exists at UE today," Ebbo Tücking continues.
Our two graduates have been part of the Blurring the Lines 2022 Edition
Congratulation to Jeremy Wilson and Charmaine de Heij
This year’s theme 'The Meaning in the Making' aims to potentially distinguish “meaning in a photograph” from “meaning through photographing.” Blurring the Lines received 174 high-quality projects from 44 participating schools worldwide. The curators selected 3 winners, 30 finalists, and 13 special mentions for the seventh edition.
Congratulations to Jeremy Wilson (Finalist) and Charmaine de Heij (Special mention). This is a wonderful success.
“In my experience, it is rather the idea of cooperation than a principle of competition that distinguishes Blurring the Lines as an extraordinary format. After graduating in photography in 2020, I found this intensive dialogue with graduates worldwide enriching, inspiring, and empowering. Today, as a jury member for Blurring the Lines, I am grateful for the excellent opportunity to continue to meet many committed people who often courageously and sensitively visualize their critical view of social, ecological, and political social grievances.” Ragna Arndt-Marić, Photographer, Jury member, and Winner of the 2020 edition. She graduated two years ago and studied Photography at Campus Hamburg.
