MdF Berlin Portfolio Review 2014

TEILNAHMEBEDINGUNGEN

Dates

Following a successful beginning in 2012, the European Month of Photography Berlin (MdF Berlin,  www.mdf-berlin.de) is once again hosting a Portfolio Review – this time in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences of Berlin (BTK,  www.btk-fh.de). The Portfolio Review takes place on November 1–2, 2014 in the rooms of the BTK on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.

Target group

The Portfolio Review is aimed at freelance photographers, artists, and photography students in advanced semesters. It provides a unique opportunity to experience new encounters, engage in interesting professional discussions, and to network with nationally and internationally renowned photography experts.

Procedure and fee

In 20-minute-long individual discussions, eligible photographers will be able to introduce their work to important representatives of the photography scene, including curators, festival directors, photo editors, art buyers, photography professors, and photographers.

Each participant will have the chance to talk with either three or six experts. The participation fee is € 75.00 for three talks, € 130.00 for six talks.

Following these talks, the reviewers will select the five best portfolios from those presented that day. On the basis of this selection, a jury comprised of five members will award the three best portfolios at the end of the second day.

Prizes

As first prize, the photographer with the best portfolio will be awarded the opportunity to have a solo exhibition at the dat-Galerie ( www.dat-galerie.de) in Berlin. In addition, he or she will receive a voucher for € 1,500 with  Grieger in Düsseldorf to cover the cost of the exhibition prints. The second prize is an award of € 1,000, and third prize € 500.

Application procedure

Those interested should provide a convincing portfolio in PDF form (max. 5 MB) with a maximum of 20 photos. Beginning in mid-August, all further information on the application process can be obtained on the MdF Berlin website:  www.mdf-berlin.de.

Application deadline

The application deadline is midnight of September 12, 2014 (late applications will be excluded!).

The MdF Berlin and the BTK will make a preliminary selection from all applications submitted. Should you be admitted to the Portfolio Review, you will receive an acceptance letter by October 1, 2014 at the latest.

Payment

After receiving your notification of acceptance, you must pay the participation fee (€ 75 for three talks, € 130 for six talks) at the latest by October 15, 2014. You will receive the required bank account information together with your letter of acceptance. Only direct bank transfers are allowed. Cash payments, credit cards, Paypal, and other modes of payments are not accepted.

Important Note: Payment within the prescribed time limit is a precondition for participation.

Reviewers’ decision: The decisions made by the reviewers and the jury are incontestable and not subject to legal recourse.

Rights

Participants guarantee that they are the sole holders of all rights including but not limited to copyright, right of use, and exploitation right on the submitted works, and transfer to the 6th European Month of Photography Berlin and the BTK the right to publicize these in part for press use related to the Portfolio Review 2014.

All data necessary for business purposes will be saved, stored, and forwarded to service providers commissioned and contracted by us to a degree necessary for conducting the Portfolio Review.
