Curriculum

The BSc Psychology programme comprises six semesters. Learn more about the study contents in the curriculum.

UE Curriculum BSc Psychology

During their psychology studies, our students acquire knowledge and skills that prepare them for their desired professions - whether it is counselling mentally and physically ill people, occupational health management or psychological work with children and young people.

The University of Europe for Applied Sciences can already look back on over 10 years of experience in the field of business psychology and is considered a pioneer in the private higher education sector. This experience also flows into our Bachelor's programme in Psychology B.Sc., which is offered without NC (Numerus Clausus).

Our curriculum is based on the requirements of EuroPsy (certification system of the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations, EFPA). This means that - after completing a wide range of professional qualification measures, including studying at UE - you can later obtain the EuroPsy certificate, which certifies appropriate professional competences throughout Europe.

The programme can be started in the winter or summer semester. In both cases, students have access to the same study content in the basic, methodological and applied subjects. However, there are differences in the structure of the timetable. The courses are attended together with older (earlier) and younger (later enrolled) fellow students, so that the students can encourage and support each other.

After studying psychology, you will find career prospects as a psychologist in the following areas:

  • Counselling of mentally and physically ill people (e.g. in outpatient care facilities)
  • Diagnostics in the context of expert opinions
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic work with mentally and physically ill persons in (rehabilitation) clinics
prevention and intervention measures (e.g. with health insurance funds)
  • Recruiting, personnel selection and personnel development (e.g. in medium-sized or larger companies)
  • Workplace health management and stress prevention
  • Work with children and young people (e.g. at school or in leisure time)
  • Work in market research and advertising
  • Activities in the health and counselling sector
  • Activities in the shaping of sustainable consumer behaviour
  • Activities in environmental protection initiatives
    environmental policy tasks

If you would like to find out more about what your career options look like after studying psychology without an NC, watch the video by the Professional Association of German Psychologists (Berufsverband Deutscher Psychologinnen und Psychologen, BDP).

You can find a lot more useful information about the job description and fields of psychological activity on the website of the BDP.

Since the profession of psychologist is very broad and includes both employees and freelancers, from psychotherapists to business psychologists, it is difficult to generalise an average salary. If you study psychology NC-free, your subsequent salary can vary greatly depending on your employer and industry.

While the average monthly salary is around 3,700 euros gross according to StepStone, the Professional Association of German Psychologists (Berufsverband Deutscher Psychologinnen und Psychologen, BDP), on the other hand, states 4,000 euros. According to gehalt.de, German psychologists earn an average of around 5,000 euros per month. The more professional experience you gain as a psychologist, the bigger the salary jumps usually become.

Freelance psychologists can expect an hourly wage of about 80-100 euros in the field of diagnostics and private coaching, and even about 250 euros per hour in the field of management consulting. Here, business and executive coaching in particular are very well paid.

Focus on personality: At UE, you can study psychology without NC - with us, it's not about grades, but about your personality, interests and motivation. Meet like-minded people during your studies, learn from experts and network for a successful start to your career!
