With more than 20 years of experience in management consulting, restructuring and strategic transformation, Dr. Claudia Sommer currently holds a professorship in Corporate Management at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences, Campus Dubai. Dr. Sommer brings a wealth of experience in cross-border corporate restructuring, transformation and performance improvement, gained through her work at The Boston Consulting Group, AlixPartners, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and KPMG, with a focus on restructuring, strategic transformation, corporate finance and financial modelling. She also served as Head of Corporate Development at OTTO, a German multibillion-euro e-commerce group. Her academic experience includes teaching at UE Berlin and HTW Berlin, where she taught Bachelor’s and Master’s courses in Organizational Development, Change and Restructuring, Accounting, and Corporate Finance. Prof. Dr. Sommer studied Mathematics and Economics at the University of Hamburg and earned her PhD in International Business at the University of St. Gallen, Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance. Her doctoral research examined private equity investment cycles and their performance implications and was published as a Springer monograph.
