The University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) is accredited by Berlin’s senate and received its institutional accreditation in 2009 from the German Council of Science and Humanities. Accredited by Berlin’s Senate
Our university has been accredited by Berlin’s senate since 2006. This state accreditation for private (non-public) universities is awarded by the Senate Administration for Education, Youth and Science (website only in German). The senate also performs an institutional quality check to review the programme and examination regulations, the programme system at University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE), and the individual concepts for majors in the bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes, as well as the proposed research projects for the master’s degree programme.
The University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) has had institutional accreditation from the German Council of Science and Humanities since 2009. This council advises the German federal government and the heads of the state governments in questions regarding content and structural development of universities, academics and science, and research.
At state-accredited universities like the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE), each new programme of study has to be reviewed and accredited by a special agency that checks content and quality according to the Lisbon Convention. All the programmes offered by our university are accredited by Germany’s Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA). You can read ZEvA’s comments on the individual programmes on the agency’s website.
The most important mark of quality for a university and its programs is state accreditation. The criteria for the accreditation of study programs are established and objective, so that you as an outside party – a parent, student, instructor – can judge the value of the education offered and the courses available.
The University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) has been state-accredited ever since its foundation as a private university. It thus meets the stringent requirements and specifications of the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat) and the FIBAA accreditation agency.
The accreditation of educational institutions is a process of quality assurance, the purpose being to establish whether a university’s education and research activities meet the recognized academic standards. The main aim of institutional accreditation is therefore to assure the academic performance of a university. This also includes the institution’s own system of quality control. In addition, accreditation protects students as well as employers that hire graduates.
The German Council of Science and Humanities advises the federal government and the state governments on matters concerning the development of universities, science, and research in terms of content and structure. The German Council of Science and Humanities also accredits educational institutions. On May 8th, 2008, the University of Applied Sciences Europe, former BiTS, was accredited by the Council of Science and Humanities of the German federal government.
